About the role
The Assurance Officer role oversees project governance and assurance of new and ongoing IT initiatives within the IT Directorate’s Portfolio Services team. The role requires working extensively with project managers and stakeholders to ensure a range of risk and quality elements across projects at various stages of completion are competently managed, ensuring compliance with the Department’s policies. The responsibilities include:
- Tracking and monitoring project planning and delivery to ensure projects are consistently delivered to a high standard, aligning with established guidelines
- Preparing range of documents including reports, presentations and briefs, to report on project progress and assurance-related issues
- Identifying strategies to mitigate emerging project issues, including conducting project health checks
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable efficient project delivery

About you
- Demonstrate strong collaborative and people management skills to work effectively with stakeholders
- Extensive project experience, ideally working in a project management office (PMO)
- Ability to manage risks and competing priorities to achieve desired project outcomes
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee.
