About the role

 

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Assistant Training Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for apprentices, trainees, employers, and training providers—providing valuable guidance and administrative support for vocational education and training (VET) programs. You’ll support the day-to-day operations of the Regional Centre through customer service, administrative functions, data processing, and participation in student expos and outreach initiatives. You will also:

  • Respond to enquiries via counter, phone, and email, delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Provide information and advice on apprenticeships, traineeships, training options, Fair Work Australia provisions, and user choice programs.
  • Assist with processing training contracts and applications for changes such as extensions, suspensions, and RTO updates.
  • Perform a range of administrative tasks including data entry, preparing reports, correspondence, and briefing materials.
  • Support field officers in their duties including preparing documentation and generating data reports.
  • Participate in events and student expos to promote training programs and services.

About you –

 

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle diverse enquiries professionally.
  • Sound knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn about the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001 and Australian Apprenticeship Support Services.
  • Proven administrative experience, including document preparation, data entry, and the use of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Willingness to stay updated on changing policies, procedures, and training regulations.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

 

Essential requirements of the role

  • A current working with Children Check
  • Current driver’s licence and a willingness to travel
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
