About the role

 

As the Advisor, Specialist Risk, you will provide expert case management and advisory services in response to complex and high-risk incidents across the department. Your work will play a critical role in fostering safe, inclusive, and supportive environments across schools and workplaces.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing a portfolio of complex and high-risk cases by developing risk management plans in line with departmental policies.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies to coordinate case responses and case conferences.
  • Providing high-quality advice and updates to senior leaders on sensitive and significant issues.
  • Preparing accurate and timely case documentation, reports, briefings, and correspondence.
  • Supporting the broader Emergency Response team in major incident responses.
  • Contributing to team capability by sharing knowledge, collaborating on service delivery goals, and identifying emerging risks and trends.
  • Maintaining accurate records, analysing case data, and recommending strategies to strengthen incident management practices.
  • Ensuring all work is conducted with strict adherence to privacy, confidentiality, and ethical standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in case management, particularly in high-risk or sensitive contexts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders and external agencies.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to provide strategic advice under pressure.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare case reports and briefing materials.
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to building safer, healthier learning environments.
  • Familiarity with privacy legislation and an understanding of how to manage confidential information appropriately.
