  •  Salary: $125,693- $138,510 p.a. + superannuation & leave loading

 

About the Opportunities 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a passionate and high-performing team delivering essential health and recovery services for the Department of Education. As the Leader, Employee Health, you will oversee a team of professionals providing workplace health management, workers compensation, and claims related services—ensuring employees receive high-quality, efficient support to recover from injury/illness and return to work while maintaining the continuity of education across NSW.

 

This dynamic leadership role is ideal for someone with a strong background in workplace health or related fields, excellent people management skills, and a commitment to delivering outcomes and evidence-based, customer-centric services.

 

About the role

As Leader, Employee Health, you will guide a diverse team of specialists delivering case management and advisory services in line with departmental policy and legislative requirements. Your leadership will drive service excellence, capability development, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, complex environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage a team of staff with diverse skills and capabilities, who are responsible for the delivery of customer centric workplace health management and claims related services in accordance with policy, procedures and legislation.
  • Analyse, evaluate and report on performance, identify trends and emerging issues to inform the development of evidence-based strategies to address risk and drive service improvement by coaching and mentoring to build staff capability.
  • Prepare high quality performance reports, submissions, house folder notes and briefing papers and other correspondence and communications to inform business decisions and provide expert advice across the Department.
  • Foster key relationships and communicate with internal and external partners, and represent the department in forums, interagency committees and working parties as needed.
  • Manage professional development and staff capability strategies to build capacity across the team and provide exemplary customer service in a high-performance culture to maximise outcomes.
  • Provide case management across a small portfolio of complex and high-risk cases.
  • Provide high level accurate and timely advice to senior management on complex matters including researching issues, analysing data and reporting on performance.

About you

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing a high-performing team in a workplace health or related field.
  • Strong understanding of workers compensation, recovery at work, and health case management principles.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leaders.
  • Solutions-focused leader with a proven ability to identify data trends and develop processes and programs that enhance service delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage service delivery in high-volume, complex environments.
  • Commitment to team wellbeing, capability building, and continuous improvement.
