About the Role
The Right to Access Officer decides applications about access to information in accordance with the GIPA Act and manages the administration of the unit to supports the team in delivering quality customer service and meet departmental and statutory compliance, processing and reporting requirements.
Essential requirements of the role
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying information access legislation including the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and making decisions in response to requests for information.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
- Legal qualifications for NSW, or tertiary qualifications in a related area, or other relevant legal experience highly desirable.
About You
- You are a people person who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- You understand compliance requirements for Standing Order 52, Orders for Papers, and have the ability to assist in coordinating and organising document returns to The Cabinet Office.
- You will assist drafting decisions under the GIPA Act and freedom of information legislation as well as coordinating other information requests.
- You will model the highest standards of integrity and be passionate about education and making a contribution to the future of NSW.
