About the role
- Provides high-level executive, policy, project and administrative support to the office of the Executive Director, Communication and Engagement.
- Liaises and consults with other areas of the Department and a range of external stakeholders to provide information and advice.
- Owns the coordination of Ministerial correspondence and executive papers in a fast-paced and vibrant team.
- Manage and mentor 4 administrative officers to deliver high-quality Executive Support.
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking and following up on accountabilities of the Executive Director.
- Provide high-level executive support to the Executive Director, including preparing meeting agendas, briefings, minutes and communiqués and related documentation.
- Undertake research and provide strategic advice, information and reports on diverse and complex policy, planning and operational matters to facilitate informed decision making and planning.
- Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of administrative practices, systems and procedures across the directorate to optimise efficiency and support the achievements of activity outcomes.
- Coordinate the work of administrative support staff by providing supervision, advice, performance feedback and coaching to maximise effectiveness of the executive support unit.

- Lead the Communication and Engagement team’s professional development strategy and support internal projects to support strategic and operational objectives for the Directorate.
The Communication and Engagement directorate is a customer-focused business unit responsible for the development and delivery of great communications for the Department of Education. It is a fully integrated team working across a range of internal and external communications including traditional media, digital, social, employee, design, and broader stakeholder engagement.

- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
