The NSW Department of Education is seeking a skilled statutory planning professional to provide expert advice and support statutory planning outcomes, ensuring informed infrastructure decisions comply with relevant obligations and legislation.

 

The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing specialist statutory planning advice to contribute to the successful delivery of school infrastructure projects that are aligned with planning legislation and departmental policies. Responsibilities include reviewing planning processes and legislative changes impacting school infrastructure proposals, preparing evidence-based briefs and responses, and collaborating with stakeholders to foster positive relationships and ensure effective planning, design and delivery of school infrastructure across NSW.

 

The successful candidate will also participate in projects that promote cultural awareness, manage competing priorities to meet deadlines and effectively communicate complex technical information in accessible formats while staying current with best practice standards.

About you

 

  • Proven experience in statutory planning.
  • Skilled at communicating intricate technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders while staying updated on changing legislation.
  • Processes a strategic approach combined with strong, solution-oriented problem-solving abilities.
  • Excels in providing high-quality, evidence-based recommendations to ensure adherence to legislative requirements.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years)
